Config Problem: Show Only Drives E/f For Mp3s
« on: June 09, 2004, 12:32:00 AM »

OK, I'm talking about Xbox only, there's no PC connected to it. I've put mp3s into these dirs:

e:\multimedia\mp3
f:\multimedia\mp3

and when I start up XboxMediaCenter and select 'music' I have these drives:

C Drive
DVD-ROM
E Drive
F Drive
SMB
XBMS
XNS.

How do I reduce this list to

DVD-ROM
E Drive
F Drive

whereas a selection of E or F should directly bring up \multimedia\mp3 and not the root drive so I can skip having to dive down into dirs. Is this possilble?

I fiddled around with XboxMediaCenter.xml commenting out those other drives but to no avail so I figured these apply to shares only, i.e. when other machines are connected to the Xbox. Is that correct?

How can I turn off unwanted drives, I did not find any other 'general' config file?!  <

You could remove the bookmarks to those in the music section of your XboxMediaCenter.xml. See below.

CODE

-

-

C:\

-

E Drive
E:\

-

F drive

Infact, you might actually want to edit each "my *** shares" section to remove the parts you don't want. Or better, comment each of those bookmarks out using , just incase you want them back at some stage.

as l u n t said comment out (put "" round EACH LINE of the offending bookmarks), or just delete the bookmarks you don't want to keep

From l u n t's example:

<music>
<default/>

DELETE THIS BOOKMARK
<bookmark>
<name>C Drive</name>
<path>C:\</path>
</bookmark>

<bookmark>
<name>E Drive</name>
<path>E:\</path>
</bookmark>

<bookmark>
<name>F drive</name>
<path>F:\</path>
</bookmark>

<bookmark>
<name>DVD-ROM drive</name>
<path>D:\</path>
</bookmark>

-

DELETE ALL BOOKMARKS BELOW THIS
<bookmark>
<name>XNS</name>
<path>xns://192.168.0.1:1400/</path>
</bookmark>

<bookmark>
<name>MS Soundtracks</name>
<path>soundtrack://</path>
</bookmark>

<bookmark>
<name>XBMS</name>
<path>xbms://192.168.0.1:1400/</path>
</bookmark>

<path>smb://DOMAIN;username:pwd@MyWindowsServer/movies/</path>
</bookmark>

<bookmark>
<name>WORKGROUPS (SMB)</name>

Sorry I shouldn't answer posts when I'm in a vague mood.   :lol:
