Have you tried changing

<music>
<default>E:\Albums</default>

to

<music>
<default>E:\albums</default>

I'm not sure if xbmc is case sensetive but that is what I can find that could be the problem.  <

Please try this.
CODE

My albums
E:\albums

A share is defined in a bookmark/end bookmark tag, between these, there always must be one name and one path tag.

Hope this helps :)

@bobbin007,  hes got the share working but you can with, my programs, my video & my music, define a default share so when you open one of those three options, it will open to the default share specified, (basically saving you a few button presses), then to get back to see the full set of shares just press "b" on the controller

@lancebarker, i may be wrong about this but when "my programs" goes screwy, i delete the thumbs and shortcuts folders, and and myprograms.db in the "albums" folder. I think this where the icons and database of the apps/games are stored so that xbmc doesn't rescan everytime.

I'm thinking a similar course of action may help you with your music share problem, thats the only thing i can think of (can't remember what the .db file for music is but there should be one in the albums folder)- the only other thing i can think of is you made a typo in the folder name.

what happens if you introduce a actual share for E:\Albums, (e.g. like bobbin007 posted), i don't think its required but see if that makes a difference.

are these valid music formats?  <

:o :unsure:  :blink:  :ph34r:

errrrrr..... sorry bobbin007 if i sounded condescending didn't mean to- as i understood it lancebarker was trying to get the default for my music working as opposed to setting up a new bookmark

i'll shut up now before digging my self into a deeper whole with the xbmc devs  <

I think bobbin007 is trying to say that you need a valid bookmark befor you can add the path in the default path.

I've missread the post by lancebarker, I thought he wants to add a share. :D

But back to problem, ;) the default tag lancebarker has posted is valid. I've just tested the default tag for music with a directory E:\albums and its working for me. So maybe the path itself isn't valid and the album directory is on F: ???

IMO its not necessary to delete the database, the solution must be simpler.

lancebarker,

Did you ever get this figured out? I'm having the same problem. My music used to show up under My Music, some new MP3s I ripped and placed in the same directory weren't showing. I then deleted XBMC entirely and reinstalled, and now nothing shows under My Music. I also don't get the Scan button.

My xml file is similar to lance's, but I'm using F: rather than E:.
