Streaming Dvd's Via Wireless G Connection
« on: May 27, 2004, 08:21:00 AM »

Ok. I've been trying to play dvd's with my shared pc dvd drive. I have a dlink 802G Super G and also a Dlink wireless 802g Super G card in my pc. Which gives me 108Mbps. When I go into play a dvd in samba I stack the dvd play the .ifo file but no matter what dvd they only play for lik 7 minutes or so then it backs out to media center. Am I going something wrong. I have 100 to 90 percent signal.

Try increasing the cache in the LAN area.

I gave up trying to stream DVD's using wireless; I just hardwired it and made it easy on myself... I had too many issues for some reason. I'd get lots of skipping and jerking as well, and I have the same 108Mb Dlink setup you have.  <

Thanks. I noticed that when the movie stops playing a Access Denied pops up.  <

What speed do you actually get tho? Try transfering a large file between xbox and pc.  <

Do this, but watch the transfer rate throughout the whole file.  See if it drops out at any point, and really if it just varies alot.  You also might try changing your wireless channel (I get the  best results with channel 11 --> no interference even if 2 2.4ghz wireless phones are in use).  It could be as simple as interference killing your signal from time to time (unless of course it stops in the same place everytime).  <
