I am having the same problem i have installed the xecutor 2.6 in my crystal box 1.6 with brown cables.

the chip lights up but the dvd rom drive does not open and there is also no video i cannot flash the bios.

when the chip is off it still boots to ms dash as normal

if anyone can help please reply!!!

no, its bank1 on an XECUTER chip, but works fine on bank2, fine on any other chip. HMM.

nothing to do with xbox version.

People with aladdin getting black screen on booting..please try another HD, from a pc...another GB size...doenst matter..cause I get black screen only with hd that come with the xbox (specifically all come with seagate)...with other HD at least boot

I repeat..only people getting black screen on boot with aladdin on...(when boot with modchip off works ok)

Yes...cheapmod is working on xbox 2004-08-13 and superaladdin doesnt....so take off the sst chip from the socket..and go on.. wink.gif

so I guess it's confirmed there is a 1.6B.

is some group except Executer trying to fix the problems with 1.6b???

All you have to do is pull the SST49LF020 chip from the Super Aladdin and solder it directly as you would a Cheapmod, it's all that a Cheapmod is!

So, no worries.

SST49LF020 are hard to come by nowadays anyways.

I didnt know what was going wrong with these xbox's till I seen the post.....Both of these 1.6's have the brown P/E cable...I will post my results soon....




Well I have found another one......This v1.6 is doing the same thing as the one with the brown P/E, but this one has a yellow P/E......I am using an X3 in this one as well....here is the dates and whatnot...

2004-08-25 ---- I use all chips that I have with flashbios on them and I get the same results....Works fine but with NO video....and I cant flash the X3 from http for some reason and it dont seem to like my bios disk...

Jeez wtf is going on......

Uhm no valid input but a few questions or things to try for the modding guru's out there:

Do the softmodded 1.6b's still freeze - is it a bios or mod install problem ?

I know the softmod uses a bfm m8 16 but the cheapmod/sst has got me wondering....

Now if the cheapmod installs don't suffer the alladin & other mod problems then could it be coz the sst/cheapmod goes in slightly different and a track is cut ?

Are these new 1.6b's scanning for anything on the lpc or surrounding tracks - well that would be clever but perhaps a bug or something like it on the lpc is causing the xbox's to crash at random intervals

As a softmod doesn't touch the lpc or any part of the mobo - anyone tested a quirky 1.6b with a soft-mod to see how it behaves

Well if anyone else out there can try on a buggy 1.6b the cheapmod/track cut & or the softmod to see if it still locks up

best of luck to all the poor bastids with a bitchy 1.6b mobo

I am doing an install on a 1.6 possibly a 1.6 b, its having the semi common black screen after flashing, i have checked solders etc, but its not bad flash memory as the 1 mb flashBios Xecuter posted worked fine, so could someone tell me if this is a 1.6b problem?

Also I had alot of trouble getting a steady 3.3v, maybe that has sumthin to do with it, but i ended up running a wire from a solder pad about an inch away to pin 9, i think its from a SmartXX install diagram on how to get the 3.3. i dunno i just really need this install, If I put in a xenium ice would i still get the black screen, or is that an xbox problem, not a modchip problem?

I don't think they're scanning the LPC or anything because MS themselves use it for debug purposes; that's why it's there.

I have done plenty of 1.6's with X2.6's and Xeniums and most had lockup problems when M8 512k was flashed to bank 1 of the X2.6.  Flashing the whole 1MB with the Slayer's Blue bios fixed the problem in ALL cases.  The same bios locking up the X2.6 boots flawlessly on a Xenium.  

What is news to me, is FlashBIOS not loading, which I haven't seen before.. but I'll only believe it if I see it.. I'm gonna take the wait-and-see approach instead of jumping to conclusions.

Has anyone tried booting the XeniumOS on a suspected 1.6b?

i tried a xenium ice on my xbox and it has one of those brown cables in them, it didnt seem to work, it just fragged
i got an aladdin xt lite on my xbox now and dont seem to see any lockups yet.
im running the M8 bios
