Booting To Xbmc Direct (one Out Of 2 Dashes)
« on: May 15, 2004, 11:26:00 AM »

Basically, a friend has Evox but has the option for 2 dashboards - he has 2 banks so I assume this is possible? He also has XBMC running, and wants the option for one to boot to evox and the other to boot directly to XBMC. Is this possible and how please? Thanks.

Booting To Xbmc Direct (one Out Of 2 Dashes)

get a bios, x2-4981 or evox m7

get a prog called xbtool, open the bios with it, edit the boot sequence in one to launch evox (wherever the evox.xbe is stored usually c:\evoxdash.xbe) and save it (you can probably just keep the current bios he's got there unless he's got just the 1 1mb bios

then with the other one edit the boot sequence to launch xbmc (again you will need to know where xbmx folder is stored- you can choose something other than the root dir- e.g. i have a bank that boots f:\apps\xbmc\default.xbe but it's up to your mate)

save it and flash with xflash2 or evox- with the dip switch config set up correctly, e.g. if you want bank 1 to be evox (set the dipswitches for 1 when flashing the "evox first" bios, and set the the dipswitch for 2 before flashing the "xbmc first" bios)

be careful though bios flashing is always a little risky, from what you say he has two banks which suggest an x2 lite which takes 512k bios's so remember to save the bios as 512 as opposed to 256 which is usually what the x2 and evox m7 bioses usually come in by default
