Have a v1.0 xbox with a v1 Xecutor using Slayer's 1.5 I think....all was great since modding it a couple Christmases ago.
Then the DVD (Philips) started getting flaky eventually to the point where it wouldn't read any disc. Asked here about it, got the advice that the DVD was probably toast, so I bought a new Thomson. Put it in, turned the xbox on, kids played it for a couple hours. Went to eat dinner, come back, kid hits the power button and I get the 3 attempts to run then flashing red. Think I read that this is an indication of a corrupted EEPROM. Is that right?
- Is there a FAQ on how an EEPROM gets corrupted, pretty much out of nowhere?
- I was thinking maybe the modchip died. Does that happen?
I've had the thing apart a few times, touched up all the pads on the pin header I installed in the LPC (both top and bottom of the MB) as well as the ground wire from the modchip to the pad on the board at the screw hole. Also touched up the alternate D0 point (bottom side of the mb). No better.
What would you suggest I do? Any help greatly appreciated.
