I´m not quite sure about this, but let´s go, first of all you need are you using evox? if so you need to go to c: in your xbox and rename evoxdash.xbe to something else (in my case is evoxdash.xbe i don´t know if your is the same case, if not pm with the xbe files in yor c drive and i´ll tell you what to do), do not erase it!, then you have to ftp your xbmc files to c: in your xbox and have the xbmc xbe file rename to evoxdash.xbe so next time you reeboot your xbox  will launch xbmc.

I´m not quite sure about this, please if someone else knows better i will be glad to read about it.

Good luck and let me know.  <

You will also need to set your home directory in XboxMediaCenter.xml, it looks like this:

 <home>-</home>

you will want to make your home directory something like c:\xbmc with all of your normal media center files in there.  If you don't do this XBMC will load but none of your menus will display any text.    <

this is simple....just put xbmc in whichever drive u boot from.  do not put it in a folder called xbmc.  just drop all the files into your boot drive whether its C: or F:.  Then rename the default.xbe file to XBMC.xbe.  Then configure your bios with xbtool or whatever to boot XBMC.xbe first.   <

What is the reasoning behind not putting it in a folder called XBMC? Just curios because that where I have mine.  <

The purpose of putting it in a folder called XBMC is just for house-keeping purposes so that you don't have XBMC's multitude of of files and folders all over the root of the drive. It's also easier to find what you want. Pretty much the purpose of all folders really. You could just have most of XBMC in a folder in the apps folder on your E drive and just have the default.xbe of XBMC and the xboxmediacenter.xml file in your root drive. just make sure you edit the .xml to let xbmc know where you put the folder with the rest of the gubbins in. Also, you don't need to edit your bios with xbtool if you don't feel like it. Just rename the default.xbe of XBMC to evoxdash.xbe and your modchip should boot that fine.

Good luck and enjoy the finest integrated dash around ;)   <

The ipadress should be the IP adress for the router so that the xbox knows were to get its IP. If you are using default settings it will probably be 192.168.0.1  <

Thanks for the reply bobbyblaze. I understand why I should be putting the Media Center in a dir called XBMC.

But j4ever stated NOT to put it in a dir called XBMC. This is where I get confused....is there a reason why I SHOULD NOT put xbmc in a dir called xbmc?

Sorry for the confusion  <

This is how I did it. I used XBTools to change the boot order to

1st: xbmc.xbe
2nd: evoXdash.xbe
3rd: xboxdash.xbe

The I flashed the bios with that. After that I moved the default.xbe and the XboxMediaCenter.xml from f:\apps\xbmc\ to c:\ and I renamed the default.xbe to xbmc.xbe. I also changed the folloing setting in XboxMediaCenter.xml from:

<home>-</home>
to
<home>F:\apps\xbmc\</home>

After that I restarted the xbox and xbmc booted.

By keeping the xbmc folder in F:\ i did not have to add to much files to C:\ but that is up to you. Good look.  <

If you are gonna fiddle with xbtool the best thing you can do is to make it boot from the xbmc folder directly.

F:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe <-- example

Make sure path is 100% right, flash and you are done....

By doing this you can have the root of c: completly clean...  <
