Try booting into safe mode and then burn.

What does safe mode do?  Does the computers speed impact the burn at the second layer?  I am using an older computer to burn the game.

Yes mate safe mode means there is the least amount of other resources being used and so allows a slightly more stable way to burn them in.
Also with a older Pc maybe the data is having to wait when being burned which could effect the outcome too.
