Well,
Great news. If you want to wait 5 years ago:

NME-360 Modchip v1.2 Coming Soon...
Submitted by greg; Mon, 11/27/2006

This news was posted a few days ago on Team underdOg's site --

Fasten your seatbelts because we are ready to launch the incredible NME v1.2 Modchip in a few days. The most important spec is that it's just one chip for all drives now supporting ALL Samsung and ALL Hitachi drives, even the new 78 ones. We found that there are some different Hitachi 78 drives in the market and so it took a lot of work and time to implement them all.

    The new features are:

        one chip for all drives
optional disables the wireless network usb adapter
optional enables network when playing linkgames
new improved and very stable media detection
now working with pioneer 111d and hitachi drives flawlessly
100% Firmware Stealth, when MS tries to read the Firmware then it replies as 100% original unmodified

Has anyone heard anything from them in the last 3 or 4 years?
You'd probably be doing yourself a huge favor by trashing it and strictly flash your dvd fw with the latest 1.91CFW or wait for the LT Max 2.0.

Is there a local museum of useless shit that you could donate it to?

First, Spark Stay Polite,

FYI Nme chip still working with ALL latest releases excluding XGD3 ones, so as long as it will be XGD2 release, you can stay and wait in your museum.

Haven't needed to be updated since 3, 4 years as it still working without doing tricky firmware upgrades as a simple Plug'n Play solution, no headache for XGD2 releases these many years...

So, Thanks to other for your replies, a nice switch between different layer break would have been appreciated from team underdog or simply a new chip.

Keep it Up !
Peace !
