Failed Ap2.5 Challenge
« on: August 15, 2011, 07:09:00 PM »

My story:

Last two days - Flashed my (newest dash) Benq drive with the LT+ 1.9 (by accident) and played some original games on Live (not flagged yet).

Today: Got my DL discs today. Thought, "hey, I should burn Black ops first." I follow a tutorial on Youtube on how to properly burn the latest games with these checks (followed it perfectly).

I notice that after creating my .dvd in ABGX (no errors) and after burning it onto a disc, and loading it into my 360, I just get a black screen after trying to load it. I try a few more times, check my XVal, and I'm still good ("Secdata is clean!"), I feel relieved.

I then make note that this black screen is apparently caused by having LT+ 1.9 installed (and failing an AP 2.5 challenge), so I make sure that I "spoof to target" in JungleFlasher and save this bin (using my original bin and the LT+ 1.91 Benq bin), and reflash to 1.91, unplug both the ethernet cord and the hard drive, and I put the disc in (thinking "oh it's no big deal"), and launch it. I get the error "Disc Unsupported." To my horror, I look at the X-value and instantly know that I have been flagged. I check it in XVal and see that I have the "Failed AP 2.5 Challenge" flag.

Next, I read up, having remembered that there is a way to unflag the console by editing the NAND.
Anyways, I check the disc in ABGX and there is not a single error, as shown below:

So I have been unable to come to a conclusion as to why this occurred, and hope to find out why.

Also, is my best option from here? Try and write to my NAND using a tool to unflag the console, or just buy a new one?

I hope you get some good laughs off of this noob  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

You forgot to update Abgx to 1.05 !!
The old version it's unable to insert correct AP25 patch sector.

Oh lord. This is such a dumb way to get flagged, after you do everything else correct.
What's the verdict? New 360 or buy NAND-X?

Unfortunately, I had just renewed my Xbox Live membership and like playing games online, so that's not going to be an option.
At this point, I'm probably going to pick up a slim and use that for XBL.

Also, is it safe to plug in my hard drive to it as long as it isn't banned?

EDIT: Should I go ahead and play online until the next banwave?

As I am unable to edit the above post, I will ask here is it true that the secdata.bin can be restored from a previous version using the latest dashboard and no JTAG?

This thread seems indicate that it is entirely possible.

Personally I would just use the current console until you get banned.  The only drawback is that your current profile will corrupt on transfer - but apparently that happens when you are flagged?  So damage is already done, no reason to rush out and buy a new box.

secdata.bin can be rewritten on a non-jtag console- yes its how we used to re-enable the hard drive installs on banned xboxes that were on 8955 or later.

however i would not panic too much, c4eva has already stated that many unmodified xboxes have failed AP2.5 challenges due to dirty discs, worn lasers etc.

play the console until you get banned, and keep a backup of your game saves so in the event of a ban you can recover your GT on a new console and copy your unbanned gamesaves to the new hard drive.

Can you link me to where he makes this statement?
So I should just assume that the failed challenge is not going to get me banned? Why is that better than getting it unflagged?
Edit: found it http://www.ixtreme.net/open-forum/12309-c4...t-mean-ban.html
And do flagged 360's start corrupting your stuff or is it when it gets banned?

Have you been on Live since the failed AP2.5 challenge?  As far as I know, once you go on live after an event like that, it's transferred to XBL servers and it doesn't matter what you do on the console side to "un-flag" it.  The damage is already done.

when a console is banned it loses the ability to create signed content

all gamertags loaded on the banned xbox are corrupted and cannot be used on a clean console again.

all gamesaves loaded on the banned xbox are corrupted and cannot be used on a clean console again.

can be fixed using CONFLAGremover or similar CON signing app but its a real pain in the ass TBH.

No, it hasn't been online during this whole ordeal. I wouldn't have asked otherwise. How difficult is it to create an LPT cable to read/write to the NAND? I could try this tutorial if it's not too hard (or if it's easy to break the console this way). Is this the exact cable that I'd want to use? (DB-25 on both ends)
I'm going to post a request to get this service done in the BST forums as well.

However, my console is not banned, it is flagged. Is this enough to lose its ability?

No guarantee but this is likely backed up by the fact that a significant number of people flagged their consoles due to ap2.5 failure last year when Fable 3 and NFS came out but there has not been a console ban wave that I know of since 2009.

Whether or not it could potentially make the console subject to closer scrutiny on Live is yet to be seen though, I would be damn careful from now on if I were you.

Were you actually on live when the console got flagged? because that would sync the secdata immediately.

If you were offline then it may be a good idea to look into modifying the NAND, otherwise there isn't really much that you can do.
