1.  Make sure your XBoxMediaCenter.xml file is present on C:\ and has the correct path to the XBMC directory.

2.  Check your log file to see what's going wrong.

3.  Update to a newer version which has a "Fatal Startup Error" handling.

Note that you may well have an FTP server going if you need it, even if XBMC isn't fully booted.

do you have to have the .xml in c: even if the .xbe is in c:\apps\xbmc\ ?
also where do you put the home address into the .xml, right at the top where it says to put something if ur using it as a desktop?  i'm real new at this cente rstuff, as i've been using player forever but just figured i'd give it a try since it has 5.1 and maybe can play .rm files, thanks in advance for your help!

Put the xboxmediacenter.xml where the xbe is.

Put the link to the main XBMC directory into the <home> tag of the xboxmediacenter.xml file.

If your C:\apps\xbmc directory holds ALL of xbmc, you won't need the home tag.  It's only needed if the xbe and xboxmediacenter.xml are located elsewhere.
