Non Alphabetic Menus?
« on: May 02, 2004, 12:39:00 PM »

When I set up my SMB shares, I just named the drives on my comp d e f and i but this means in my menu I get e then the e drive on xbox, then f then the f drive on xbox and it looks very unclean.  How do I make menus show up the way they are listed in the xml instead of just alhpabetic?  <

In the XML for <name></name> put whatever you want, PC HDD E:\ , you get the idea.  <

Well I did name it, it's named E on My PC then F on My PC etc... so I guess I haev to stick PC first to keep them grouped.  But even then, I would like my network shares to be first in my list as that is where I go 90% of the time.  So I would have to name them something like !PC drive E to garauntee first on the list?

There is no lower level access that I can use to force the list?  <

Well, you can change the way its listed, by name, size, date, those are the only options that Im aware of.  I deleted all options I dont use;  since I store all my media on a server, I got rid of the XBox HDD shares listed for the XBox F and E drive.  Thats one other options. As to making it first, instead of calling it E or F, call is A and B.  In your head itll correpsond to E and F....thats about all I can think of.    <

Hmmm, well ok I guess I am not sure how it's going to register by size or date on shares as they are just text... but I guess I will have to be more creative in my naming, and since my xbox has the stock HD I guess the E and F don't really have much value to me as I can't store much on there.

Thanks for the reply, and if anyone comes up with a way it would be appreciated!  <

Well, if your just sharing text files thru your SMB shares, why does XBMC need access to it?  XBMC is mainly for media files, and it does display the size and date last modified of any shares you have,  so you can have it sort by the Date the share was last modified (i.e if you last saved something to you PC E:/ drive and XBMC is set to sort by date, it your PC E:/ drive would be the last one in the list, if the arrow for up or down next to DATE is set to pointing down, and vice versa if its set to up. )  <

Oh ok, I thought when it meant sort by date, it was sorting each bookmark by date, and I couldn't figure out how it new what bookmark came when.  By text I meant the xml file is a big text file with no date codes.  <
