« on: May 10, 2010, 09:00:00 PM »

Just got a replacement benq for my 360, noticed I need much more then just a torx... what i have at my disposal is my laptop, thought about purchasing a PCMCIA eSATA card and just powering the drive using the xbox, jungle flashing it with ixtreme 1.61... I have access to a pc with SATA but its not mine, plus i would need a connectivity kit... alil confused on how to go about this whole process  uhh.gif ... recommendations are much appreciated  biggrin.gif

After reading the noob textbook, it says to rip with a Kreon drive, but I was wondering if Benq or Samsung would be preferred over that, and using what firmware?... I figure a Benq in my 360 and another Benq in my PC would would rip, just dont know if theres a dedicated ripping firmware or not... Should I go with a Kreon, or is that outdated?

Thanks Pink, much appreciated! I ran into a problem, go figure right?... I try to unlock the drive using jungleflasher 1.73 beta, im using the xbox to power the drive and plugged the drive into a SATA port on the MB... after the magic keys are sent, it says "Done" "Sending Vendor Intro" Vendor Intro Failed"... ive seen threads for sammys doing this but nothing for benq... i try opening the tray, unplugging the drive, pushing the tray in half way and plugging it back in, nothing... im upgrading to windows 7 to see if itll help, but im not expecting it to... any advice?

Once again Pink1, thank you very much, I dont have a connectivity kit like the one in the tut... but i did put an order in yesterday for a VIA 6421 chipset, should be here tomorrow... I cant invest in a connectivity kit for little while as im strapped for cash, but i was thinking of either getting a IDE Kreon drive, or a C.kit and another benq as a ripper, i think either one will roughly come out to the same price... just not sure if either one is preferred over the other, you mentioned the ripping firmware for the benq, which leads me to believe that benq would be the way to go...

Just got my VIA 6421, put it in and its good to go... what i want to do now, is make a custom FW using my old drive (Lite On DG-16D2S) and iXtreme LT, and flash my new drive (BenQ) with the custom FW... is it possible?...
NM I went ahead and just threw in the new drive, flashed spoofed the FW with LT, wrote it with DosFlash32... I put a game in (not a backup), but it wont get passed the XBox 360 screen... any ideas how i managed this?

if you have a liteon you have to get a probe or make one to dump the DVDKey
and then you can spoof your benq.
i use JungleFlasher and if you get the JungleFlasher.pdf it will be a lot of  help.
