The only Pioneer burner sold in Denmark seems to be DVR S18LBK. Has anyone tried this for burning backups?

I would like to know the same thing. A lot of the information I find is old. I have not invested in an xbox 360 elite or anything else until I know for I can do this and will have everything I need. What is a good, new modern SATA dvd burner to use for xbox 360 backups, and will I need to install custom firmware on it?

I'm looking for the same information.  On google you only find old information...can't find anything current.

I have two drives both are fairly old. I have a 2004 NEC DN2510A..this one will burn games on Verbatim's only and at 2.4x.. 5 out of 5 successes..but can't use any other media and can't burn faster than 2.4x.   Acceptable though..better than nothing.

I have a newer drive thats a Sony Optiarc AD7170A wish is from 2006..would think this drive would be better..but it won't burn any media at all.  Even the Verbatims fails usually around 30-40% (probably at the layer break) and yes I know how to use the checking programs and make sure I have the right breaks etc...it's the drive..it's worthless..and yes I updated it's drivers/firmware..  just a crappy drive..at least mine is.

So I was planning on purchasing a new one eventually as Im sure that 2004 drive isn't going to hold up too long...

Any info would be good.

There's a long conversation on this topic at http://www.digitalfa...m/showthread... from just a few days ago, with very current information.

If you don't want to read all that, then know the best drive right now is a Samsung drive.
A good second choice would be Sony Optiarc drives.
Pioneer doesn't make drives anymore, they're just rebadged LiteOn's now.
