Lite-on Burn Issues
« on: December 26, 2009, 07:51:00 PM »

Hi,

I'm having some trouble with my backups at the moment and I'm pretty sure it's either the DVD+R media I'm

using or somehow the burn is going wrong ...

I'm using :
- Verbatim DVD+R Dual Layer 8x media
- Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1693S drive (latest firmware KS0B)
- XBox Arcade with Lite-On (IXtreme 1.51 flashed) drive
- CloneCD v5.3.1.3

My first burns all worked fine then I ran out of disks so went and bought some more - from the same store,

same brand and spindle size (pack of 10) but this is where the problems have started ....

I tell CloneCD to burn at 1x but have also now tried 2.4x but with same results....

Nothing I now burn will play, at all.  When I put something in the XBox360 it either :
- Says "open tray"
- Says "play DVD" and looks like it's loading but just loads a screen with the XBox 360 logo / text on it

The burns I did originally, all work fine but nothing since getting 'new' media works but they are the same

brand / specification disks as used previously.
I thought maybe it was this wave4 business so tried re-burning backups that I already have burnt and know

the image works fine .... Same problem.
2 previously working images, burned on these 'new' disks do not work.

Nothing has changed on my PC, I have not installed anything new (hardware or software), I have not changed

versions of software and I have not changed the method of burning them so I have no idea what the problem

could be. Can anyone shed some light on this at is really starting to get frustrating now.

Also, does anyone know what the different numbers when looking for disks to buy?
I've seen 43666 (which seems to always be a 10 pack spindle) and 43667 (which always is a 25 pack spindle).
I can not remember which the first pack I bought was labeled but I'm presuming it was 43666 as it was a 10

pack.
Does this number make a difference?

And finally :)
Reading the info' on the centre of the disks, I noticed that the burns that work have a very different

layout to the disks that don't work ....

Working disks centre ring details :

d pah701nc27091314-a4214
d pah701nc27091315-a5541
(from the same spindle I think)

Failed disks centre ring details :
(from 2 different spindles)

9190 805 -rc a3 3a 00449
9190 805 -rc fe e6 00448

px9xf231000014

How can I find out how to buy the working disks again??

Thanks.

What disc ID is reported by your clone CD , imageburn etc.. ?
Several friends and I got a batch of Verb's reporting MKM-003-00 there were absolutel rubbish.
The burn would complete with no complaints they would just not play in any of our consoles or at best would start but soon error out. I don't mean a few it was 90% or better that would not work.
Even the ones that the consoles would recognize wouldn't install to the hdd without failing with an error.

All of our machines continue to burn perfeclty with other discs it was just   these several spindles of Verb's with that code.

I'm guessing from the replies that I 'may have a bunch of duff disks so I guess I'll go to another store and pick some more up, hopefully they will work.

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply, now :

RainFade
CloneCD / IMGBurn is reporting the disk ID as MKM-003-00.

Yes I know Lite-On at IXtreme 1.51 will not play Wave 4 games but I'm trying to reburn and play games that are not Wave 4 and have previously worked.
Gears Of War 1 & 2
Prototype
Resident Evil 5
etc .... I have working burns of these games but can not reburn them (the DVD / ISO files) so they play, which is why I made this post.

jtupnsmoke
According to the insert on the spindle lid, they are made in Singapore.

I watched the guy flash my drive so 100% sure its 1.51 and this was the latest IXtreme out at the time but regardless of that, I'm trying to reburn already known working games and failing, thats why I made this post :/

Used IMGBurn but same problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I tried IMGBurn v2.5.0.0 and it didnt work but I thought I'll give it another go with a different version - nothing to lose apart from blank DVDs.

So I tried v2.3.2 but no joy.
Then I tried v2.4.0 and ..... IT WORKED!

Burn completed and my backup played in my 360.

Thanks to all for the info / help / advice but my problem is now resolved.

symbal
Sorry I have no idea on the firmware issue but maybe try a different version of IMGBurn and / or CloneCD.

What DVD+R DL Media to Use ?

The X-S have been using Verbatim 95310 20 Pack DVD+R DL  Spindle for along time so there should be no problems burning your  games using the right burn Speed read on for more info on Write Speeds  using Verbatim disc.

My burner doesn't support 2.4x ?

If your drive can't burn at 2x using Verbatim 95310 20 Pack DVD+R DL Spindle try Verbatim 95484  15 Pack DVD+R DL Spindle witch is Rated for 8x and should be burned at  4x read on for more info on Write Speeds using Verbatim disc.

What is DVD-9 - 8.5GB ?

A DVD-9 is constructed of two stamped substrates bonded together to  form two recorded layers for one side of the disc, along with a blank  substrate for the other side. The outer stamped Layer (0) is coated  with a semitransparent gold coating to both reflect light if the laser  is focused on it and pass light if the laser is focused on the layer  below. A single laser is used to read both layers; only the focus of  the laser is changed.

I have no idea what the x360 was modded with ?

You need to know what drive you got in there and what version of  Firmware is Spoofed. Look at the drive by ejecting your x360 drive to  see and comparing it with the images below, from there your can decide  what version of firmware you need to flash your x360 with.

Xbox 360 Drive Database

Xbox 360 DVD Drive Comparison

iX v1.61 you can Rip and Play your backup's using the same drive,  but I Recommend you get two drives one for Ripping and one for playing  your game's. iX v1.6 - 0800 Firmware is a dedicated "ripping" Firmware  Only, Not to play games on Read everything in my Guide plus the  Links. Also stop using CloneCD to burn your x360 Games I'm not saying it ant good but can cause problems even then installing PC Games.

MKM-003-00 Appears that these are cheap DVD's that use same media as Verbatim. sad.gif
