Hotswapping?
« on: December 02, 2009, 04:09:00 AM »

hi guys,
firstly im new to the 360 only recently got one and im looking into backing up my games. Im looking at the hot swap method as ive got loads of crappy dvd drives lying around. I have looked at the pinned topics which were useful but what i wanna know is can i burn the raw dump image of the game from hot swapping or do i have to add ss to the image, my xbox was banned when i bought it anyway so  no worries there and it has iextreme 1.6. sorry if this has been answered before. thanks guys

hotswapping will not work anymore. it doesn't extract everything necessary to make a proper backup. there is a great PINNED thread that tells you everything you need to know about using your current drive or a spare 360 drive to rip your games.

I've tried the hot swap method in the past too and never came out with a good result . Just alot of coasters . There was so many things through forums on the topic about what setting to use on certain discs to get a good rip and seemed I spent a hell of a lot of time for nothing . Seemed like a good idea at the time but I ditched it , went and got a benq and flashed 0800 on it and never looked back .

Just a little insight on what I did . Up to you . Oh and if you don't wait for the disc to stop spinning before you switch , be prepared for some damage , whither its the drive or most importantly the disc . You destroy the disc , yer gonna need a new one to make a good rip .
