Dde While Playing From Hd?

Today while I was playing a backup of NBA 2k10 I had i turned on for like 5 minutes and got a DDE while playing the game off of the hard drive.  I restarted it twice and it did the same thing.  So I put in a backup of Forza 3 and played it off the hard drive for like 45 min. and it was fine.  Then I deleted NBA 2k10 off the hard drive and just played it from the disc (Verbatim) and it was fine.  What could the problem be?  Is my hard drive failing?

possibly just a bad hd install.. it can happen

Also could be your DL burner, installing may go fine to HDD but data on the tracks in sectors could be corrupted, try burning it again after you Ripped it from the original.
