Dirty Disc Error/unreadable
« on: November 16, 2009, 12:37:00 PM »

Hey guys. I'm in a real bind here. I'm trying to help my cousin with this Zephyr system.

So, here's what's going on, when we try to install games onto the HDD, any game including MW2, at about 12-16% of installation we get the dirty disc/disc unreadable error. So, this is what we have tried so far:

1. Cleaning the lens - Error
2. Laser tweak, took some time and patience - Error
3. Replaced the drive - Still Error

Here's some info on the console, he's always played games off the disc, until recently, when he picked up a 2nd hand 20G hdd. It was formatted, and cleared of all preexisting data.

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

Try removing labels from your backups if you have them on...i tried to remove them from mine and now everithing is really fine! wink.gif

Thanks, but I forgot to mention I'm running legit copies of all the games. The drive is not spoofed to do backups.

And I have not encountered any error messages as of yet.

Are you sure you bought a "good" new drive? My latest "new" drive was crap! So i had to change the laser myself!

Got it off ebay. The condition of the interior looked much better than the original. No signs of wear.

Moderators: Kill this thread.

E68 error crept up on me as I was trying to double check everything. Going to replace the HDD.
