Burning A 360 Disc Takes ~40 Minutes
« on: November 07, 2009, 01:14:00 PM »

this is too long right?  Any tips to speed it up?  I'm using Verbatim DL MIS discs, burning at 2.4x, my Liteon SOHW-1633s is definitely in DMA mode, and it has the latest firmware.... is there anything else I can do?

Thanks

I can't go any higher in Xbox Backup Creator (with imgburn as the burning engine) - it is set to "maximum" burn speed and it then writes at 2.4x.  In any case I thought everyone burned at 2.4x?  My burner isn't rated to go any higher with DVD+R9s (though of course that is what the media is rated as).  Is that my problem?

Yup, burning a DL disc at 2.4x will net you out around a 40 min burn time.  Get media that is compatible with your drive at a higher speed, or if that's not possible, get a new burner, they're so cheap these days anyways.

What does it matter how long it takes unless your trying to burn heaps to sell on the internet.
Personally I would never burn faster then 4X anyway. Just not worth the chance of wasting a disk.

Well it's not the end of the world but obviously a shorter burning time is better.

Alright, thanks for clearing that up everyone.

I burn my discs at 8x, but I am using a Pioneer and Verbatim 8x media, so I've never had an issue.

From what I'm getting this that your going to lose a disc or two then burning your backups try what ever speed you think is good and how the games looks after when playing it, because every one has a different drive.

You got Verbatim 8x media burn them at 8x don't work burn them at 6x, 4x and so on who cares about how many disc you lose. As long the games runs in your xbox with no problems, what problems to look for textures miss like say a bike riding down the road with no one on, every thing looks like it got painted, wrong colors things like this. If that don't work Rip the Original again then burn.

Never had an issue with burning at 8x, and I always install the games to the Xbox HDD, so it won't be reading the burned disc too much.
