Long time lurker first time poster, hello. (IMG:

The latest ban wave has just hit and in the thread about it on here I read a few people say "if you've been banned, go and check all of your discs in ABGX360". So I've done just that, and I'm a bit shocked at the results.
Now I backup all my own games using an IDE SH-D162C drive with the latest Kreon firmware (TS05 / v1.00), and I've burned using three different writers after a string of catastrophes (I had a Liteon burner that broke after a few burns, I bought a Pioneer burner that didn't like my SATA chip so only worked half the time, and finally I realised my laptop's Samsung burner could write DVD+R DL discs).
Whenever I've backed up a disc, I've put the original into my SH-D162C, copied it using Schtrom (sometimes at 4x-8x), checked the ISO with ABGX (purely for the CRC check, ignoring any fixes it wanted to apply - you can't improve your own copy of an original game you buy from the shops yourself, surely), and burnt/verified with ImgBurn. All passed or I wouldn't have stuck it in my Xbox.
Now, when I run them through ABGX, all of the tests pass okay - apart from the last one.
On about 50% of the burns I've done, it gets to the last bit - comparing L1 Video on L0 to L1 Video on L1 - and fails. On my D162C they fail with an UNRECOVERABLE READ ERROR, on my laptop's burner they fail with an ILLEGAL MODE FOR THIS TRACK error.
So I'm presuming the discs aren't, and haven't been, safe to use. And yet the ISO files have all checked out, and ImgBurn has verified the burns. And none of the discs have failed to work in the 360 yet.
Is this failure normal? If not, what is the problem? Is it the way I'm reading the discs or the way I'm burning them? Either way I'm afraid to sign into Xbox Live, I think my days are numbered...
Thanks for any advice guys.
