Ripping With Wxripper And A Laptop Optical Drive?

Okay so I have been looking for a great deal of time for the pressure sensor on my optical disc drive (Matshita uj850s) that tells the drive when it is open/closed. I have been very unsuccessful and also getting irritated. So I come to this board seeking expertise in slim dvd drives. Basically I am looking for a way to fool the drive into thinking it is closed so it will read the disc while it is open... so if anyone can be of assistance that would be great!
