Device Buffer Goes To 1% And Fails In Imgburn
« on: June 30, 2009, 11:28:00 PM »

I'm running windows 7 and Imgburn to burn backups, but when Ive been trying to burn reciently, (with the correct layerbreak, etc) and it'l get a little bit in, the device buffer drops to 1% and then it hangs for hours till I shut down my computer.  Any tips? I feel like its windows 7 related, but i've been burning disks with windows 7 before... Any help would be appreciated.

It will eather be the media/burner/hdd

Since media is the cheapest try replacing it first with some verbatim brand.
Also if you have another hdd in your computer move the iso and .dvd over to that aswell and try.

Other wise replace the burner.

Tried CloneCD, k3b on ubuntu, launching through xbc, 2 different backups, deleting upper/lower filters, and in the end wasted about 12 dvds.

K3b gave the most info. Once it started to lose buffer, it said error and Immedietly failed, but like the others it didnt say what happened and you had to restart to take the disk out.

Would trying to backup a dvd9 movie be a good test? I figure the disks are so low im gonna have to order more anyway, but I bought through costco so there's a good warranty and im hoping they'll just replace my drive (as it used to work just fine).

I've had that problem under vista, came down to (for me at any rate): if your burner is SATA, make sure you don't have your PC bios set to AHCI (use IDE/SATA legacy mode instead.) NCQ (command queue) seems to bugger things up with SATA burners.
