All my games are burnt on Verbatims. Most of them still work fine (I have ixtreme 1.4 I think with 4x speed). However, I noticed that 2-3 recent games have been detected as a DVD and won't play on the console. I suspect a dodgy laser lens, but the other games (using the same media) still work...

Any idea why? If it really is the drive, should I buy the whole drive or just the laser lens to replace?

what firmware you have on 360?

what games?

what method of ripping/patching?

I'm pretty sure I'm on 1.4 right now since I don't want the 12x speed (too loud for me and I dont play online). I'm trying to play a copy of Guitar Hero Metallica. There was another game but I don't remember which. My friend ripped his copy for me so I'm not sure how he did it.

edit: All the other Guitar Heros and Rock Band games work fine. So does Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. Weird. I would try burning again... but I ran out of disks sadly.

edit2: Somebody just told me that some recent games require 1.51 or newer. Guess I'll try that first and report back.

1.6 is latest firmware

guitar hero metallica is "wave 3" type game = unplayable in your current firmware.

He speaks the truth! Just upgrade to at least 1.51 and you will have "wave 3" support which all new games have.

Get 1.6 if you have a benq, liteon or samsung.

If you have a hitachi there is only 1.51, but it will play the latest games.
