« on: April 15, 2009, 11:00:00 AM »

Im wondering where people got their kreon drives at?

I see that there are a ton of them on ebay for $25-$35 but they are all from South Korea; are these legit ones to buy?

Who knows, but personally I wouldn't buy shit from Korea or Hong Kong on eBay as alot of it is cheap crap. Hit up one of the guys in the BST here or if you live in Australia let me know. Good luck.

Yea they are legit, but look at the shipping costs, its probably almost the same cost of the drive, or above half the drive cost...

I got mines from samsungdrives.com. Shipping was extremely fast 3 days (only caused i ordered it on the weekend). Little pricey $52 bucks but that included insurance with tracking and express shipping option. I get stuff from hong kong on ebay quite often. Stuff is decent quality but it's the shipping time and cost that blows.

I actually got my SH-D163B from Korea via eBay.  Although I did have probs flashing the drive, but that's becuase it's newer hardware and comes with SB02.  Mind you, I was able to flash it to Kreon 1.00, but it wasn't as easy as my first Kreon drive (which pooched a little while after I got it).

I truly believe Kreon, or anyone capable, needs to update the firmware to support the newer hardware revisions of these drives.  Soon we'll just have no drives that are Kreon flashable because the firmware is so dated.

SB02 are the same to flash. The only difference is when you open the kreon SB01 file, it says "old version opened" Click okay and you flash it the same.

Not completely true as there are many reports of people having trouble flashing drives that comes with SB02 hardware revisions/firmware.
