Wave 3 & Firmware Questions
« on: April 09, 2009, 10:17:00 AM »

My console was banned almost 3 years ago. So I am still running xtreme 4.1 or 4.2 (OLD firmware) which allows playing backups without the security in place. I know there is a patcher for Wave 3 games - I tried with my backup of Riddick, boots up, wants to update, starts the update, reboots, says unable to read disc. I assume this is because of the patch or because the patch says it only works with ixtreme 1.4/1.5.

So what I need to know is does the iXtreme 1.51 have an install option that will play backups WITHOUT security in place?

Or is there a way (burn Riddick again without patching) to have the system update and play patch wave 3 with the old firmware?

these are the steps i used to get wave3 games to turn into wave2 games... they will boot on any firmware... since ur already banned, this will work for u

1. Start XDVDMulleter or agbx360
2. View ISO Details
3. Choose a Wave 2 Game ISO to extract the (PFI) and (Video Partition)
4. Extract PFI and save it to hard disk.
5. Extract Video Partition File and save it to hard disk
6. View ISO Details with Wave 3 ISO - Select [No] When Asked to try and repair unknown Video section.
7. Select (insert video) Under the Video Tab - Select [No] When asked Auto Insert Video.
8. Insert the Wave 2 Video Partition that you saved to your hard disk.
9. Extract DMI under the stealth tab to the same place as PFI and Video Partition.
10. Reboot mulleter and choose Build/Rebuild an ISO
11. Load the Wave 3 image and click Next
12. Choose Create a cloned DVD9 ISO and click next
13. Choose Load from source ISO and click next
14. Now choose Load from files and load the (PFI), and (DMI) files you just extracted
15. Click on Make ISO and save it.
16. Under (Other) Tab Select (Make .dvd File) and Save
17. Burn the ISO with the DVD file .

thats incorrect... he has old firmware that does NOT support wave3... in order to get wave3 games to work on OLD firmware (firmware that doesnt support wave3), you need to modify the game... also, since he was already banned, it doesnt matter that the game is modified since he cant go online anyways... if he hadnt been banned, he would NOT want to convert it to wave2 because that would get him banned... make sense? sorry if thats unclear

fightclub,
all wave3 games contain NXE installer. will it be removed by using that method? (so that backup may be played on 360 with pre-NXE dashboard)

i've got an "veteran" xenon 360 with Xtreme firmware, which i never use for XBL.
and i prefer to keep old dashboard if it's possible (for both aestetic and old hardware stability reasons).

no, you cannot play wave 3 games without NXE, even if you patch them.

why is that?   If you patch it with the files from a wave2 game, arent u replacing all the wave3 files with wave2 files... essentially making it wave2?  sorry if im wrong... still learning a lot

Unless I am mistaken, newer games (wave 3) require the new dashboard/kernel in order to work. It is no different then newer PC games being unable to run on an old operating system.

Another way of explaining it is that newer games utilize the updated/new features of the new kernel that the old one (kernel) does not have.

that's possible, of course. but what makes you think so? is there reason for that or is it just an assumption?

Just want to say i love you "fightclub". Your method works 100% perfectly and i already tried over 5 wave 3 games and all play no problem on my 1.4 iextreme. No need to update to 1.5 or 1.6 this works flawlessly, btw im banned so i dont care, woohoooo  biggrin.gif

Wave 3 & Firmware Questions

Need some help:

I just started having problems with 2 copies.  Virtua tennis 2009 - get black screen - does not startup

Bionic commando - get dirty disk during intro movie

I have very old firmware ( dont remember what version) and have never had a problem ( i dont go on live)
all games have always worked.

I tried patching wave 3 to a wave 2 using Fightclubs directions above but it still does not work.

for the people who have had sucess, Which wave 2 game did u use? Is there something else that needs to be done in the directions?

thanks in advance

Problem is that this game hasn't been released yet, that's your problem.
