I recently had to replace the Hitachi-GDR3120L-0046 DVD drive in my Xbox360. I replaced the drive with a Toshiba Samsung TS-H943-MS28 re-flashed with Ixtreme_1.5 spoofed as a Hitachi-GDR3120L-0046. My set-up was using a Windows XP desk top computer, Xecuter 360 Connectivity Kit (CK3) and a Syba SY-VIA6421-3S1P from Newegg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16816124011All went well with the re-flash process, but I am unable to get Xbox_Backup_Creator_v2.8 to see my Toshiba Samsung TS-H943-MS28. I have done much research to try to determine the problem and have found two possible reasons:
(1) I read somewhere that a VIA6421 RAID card will work for re-flashing but is no good for making Backups and that a NONRAD VIA6421 card is required for backups.
(2) The other possiblility might be that Xbox_Backup_Creator_v2.8 does not see the drive because the Toshiba Samsung TS-H943-MS28 drive firmware is spoofed as Hitachi-GDR3120L-0046.
I found this posting on another xbox360 forum:
[Trouble extracting games using schtrom360Xtract and backup creator]
The xtreme firmware that I had on the MS28 was also spoofed to make the xbox think it was my original LiteOn (otherwise it doesn't work), but because of this the computer couldn't read the drive. So the solution was to flash some original (not spoofed) xtreme firmware onto the Samsung MS28 and now the computer detects it fine and everything is working.
Can someone confirm which is the problem ? Or if both/neither are the problems ? Any
responses will be appreciated.
