Using A 360 Drive To Make Backups
« on: February 18, 2009, 10:52:00 PM »

Hi, I Want to make a game backup using my 360's 78fk Hitachi drive... but I've heard rumors about people saying that they were not able to extract the SS bin from the game.
Is this True? uhh.gif

That's what i've been reading.. Sounds like the only ones that are able to do that are the Benq and Samsung. ..

Instead of making another thread decided to just post it here..

Now I understand to be able to use the 360 drive(benq/samsung)you have to flash the drive with the 0800 disc so that my computer will recognize it. What i'm wondering after using it to rip games to my hard drive do I need to reflash my drive with the iextreme firmware to play my backups or would the iextreme FW still be in the drive? THanks in advance..

Well, Unfortunately I could not make a backup, (I dont know why) Though, I was in mode b and the drive was flashed with ixtreme 1.4, and I was using Xbox backup creator and it only read 6.54 megs. Is there anything im doing wrong or is it just not possible to make backups with this drive? uhh.gif

You can't make backup copies with an Hitatchi drive. Must be BenQ/Samsung flashed with 0800 firmware. Also, you have the option of getting a Kreon drive. Do a search for Kreon.
I myself use a Samsung MS28 permanently connected to my computer. Laser's on its way out. Adjusted the pot, all is good.

Hope this helps

RIPPING

2-Select your ripping drive like Kreon (IDE =SH-D162C and TS-H352C; SATA =SH-D163A and TS-H353A) or Samsung/Benq drive**(FW xtreme800 as per Using A Ms28 For ripping  ). Note that Hitachi do not allow to extract valid SS and therefore games

So when I flash my benq drive with 0800 FW do I need to reflash it again with the iextreme FW for it to play backup games?

if you play offline then i wouldn't worry about it, but if you go online i would update it to ixtreme 1.5
