I have a few movies that the 'imdb' lookup does not return a nice thumbnail image for. I can see that XBMC caches the thumbnails that are found in the 'thumbs' directory, and that the files are named 'imdbttXXXXXXX.jpg' or something like that, where ttXXXXXXX corresponds to the assigned id by the IMDB.
The only way I have been able to figure out how to use a thumb when one isn't returned via the IMDB lookup is to grab a thumbnail from somewhere else, go to www.imdb.com and lookup the movie I am creating a thumb for, determine the 'ttXXXXXXX' id value assigned to the movie in question, rename the thumb I grabbed from elsewhere using the 'imdttXXXXXXX.jpg' format, place it in the 'thumbs' directory on the XBOX, and then conduct another lookup against the IMDB using the 'white' button. When I do it this time, my custom thumb will then appear for the movie that lacked a thumb otherwise, and is used as the icon for the movie file in question.
I know this is a cludge and am wondering if there is a better way to do this. I know for games, for example, that I can place a 'default.tbn' thumb in the same directory where the game's defaut.xbe file is located, but nothing similar seemed to work for me with movie files. Also, I am not looking to create an icon for the movie folder, rather, the actual movie.
Is there a more succinct method?
