How Well Does Pioneer Dvr-216 Work With 360?

Provided you use quality media (ie Verbatim made in Singapore) you shouldn't have any issues between 4x-8x burning.  As for the firmware, try it as is and then update if it's necessary (if it ain't broke, don't fix it).

I have a Pioneer DVR-216D(BK) and it burns x360 backups very well @ 4x speed.

I use the firmware version 1.06 that has been patched by MCSE to overspeed read/write all media which is handy when I want to use the cheaper Verbatim DVD+R DL (MIS MKM-001) certified 2.4x (upto 6x on highspeed burners) @ 4x speed

Honestly haven't tried at 8x for two reasons:
1. People say backups tend (not always) to fail in the console when burned @ 8x,
2. There are reports the DVR-216D does not write very well @ 8x.

Other than that the Pioneer DVR-216D(BK) is set to become another member in a long line of Pioneer drives to join the backup burning family.

I have the DVR-215D, works perfectly out of the box, no firmware upgrades and use it via X-360USB in an old CDRW enclosure biggrin.gif @ 2.4x. not one coaster yet!

I thought Pioneer drives did do auto bitsetting?

Hi

I have burned disks at 8x and higher and verified them against the image using imageburn and they have checked out ok and worked fine.  This drive is probably one of the best I have ever used for 360 backups.

It is extremely fast and makes reliable backups even on cheaper media.

Another thing I can say is that Pioneer drives seem to be the most reliable because they don't become faulty within six months like the numerous LG and Liteon drives that I have purchased from PC world. I purchased my Pioneer 111D almost two years ago and it still works flawlessly even after doing  well over 500 burns on both DL and SL media.

Both the Pioneer 111DBK and the Pioneer 216DBK automatically set the booktype to DVD-ROM.  No messing with book type settings!!

so with this pioneer Drive, I don`t need to change any settings in imgburn, just burn verbies at 4x...right now i am burning with imgburn and it is only going at 4x even though i set it to 1x, I am not sure why, i am using an lg and the last couple of games ive had are giving me troublesome dirty disc errors....
