Unplayable Disc With Backed Up Games
« on: May 30, 2008, 08:26:00 AM »

hi!

I have made some backups of my games, and when i try to play these it says "unplayable disc". I need to restart my 360, open the dvd, close it, turn the 360 of, and so on. After some tries it works, sometimes dont.

Also sometimes the game freezes while inside the game, and it is really annoying. What could be wrong?

More information would be helpful here.

media used
360 DVD drive make and model
firmware version flashed to it
software used to rip the games you have
software used to burn the backups (incl. speed)
etc

Sorry to go off topic a little bit. But last thursday I flashed my ms25 and after I flashed it I re-assembled the 360. For the first 5-10 minutes it will not play any games (original or backups). And suddenly I remembered that I didn't re-connect the sata cable in the 360 (DUH!!!).

I'm sure this is not your problem. I just thought I'd post what I did for a laugh.

I wouldn't use XBC or CloneCD. All of my backups are done with IMGBurn. Remember to VERIFY your burns too!!!

No, I mean you should always verify any media you burn to ensure what you have written to the disc can be read back 100%. Just because a burn completes without errors doesn't guarantee the disc itself is completely readable. This isn't advice just for your situation, it applys to anyone writing to discs, period!
