Verbatim Singapore/india Quality Difference? Help Please.
« on: April 18, 2008, 12:22:00 AM »

I have heard some people say Indian ones are just as good 80% quality in DVDInfo Pro, and I've heard people say they suck, well its really hard to find Singapore ones nowadays, and I'm wondering how good are the Indian ones? Anyone here actually have them and ran a test on one before? Post up! My local Sam's club sells 50 pack DVD+R DL verb's (Indian) for $69.99, I wanna know if its worth the buy pretty much, but I don't wanna burn out my laser at the same time, everyone says verbs the way to go, well how about Indian verb? All I've ever been able to find are Indian ones, so that's what I go with. I've had maybe 2 coasters out of 50 or so. The rest of them work fine as I can't see any problems with them. What tests would you like me to run with them? I know you can run some with Nero, but I'm not very familiar with it.

PI,PO, and Jitter media tests, you can use DVDInfo Pro to do this, Nero has an option that I think as well, and what it does is after the total scan it tells you the overall quality of the Media, my current verbatims range about 80-85% quality using dvdinfo pro @ 8x, I'm off to sleep, will check again in the morning, any information you can provide would be great + screenshots =D.

What I basically want is something like this - http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=2168, that link shows a screenshot of the tests using DVDInfo Pro, and how to read them.

I posted up some scans recently in this thread.

Pio 212D burned, benq DW1620 used to scan.
2.4x MII Verb (2.4x burn)
8x MIS Verb (2.4x burn)
2.4x MIS Verb (4x burn, new purple packaging)

That was one of the better scans I had gotten from the few 360 burns I attempted with the MII disks I had. I am also speculating that the current 2.4x in the new purple packaging are still being produced in India even though they seem to be shipping them side by side MII/MIS with nearly identical packaging to retail. The quality from disk to disk is not consistent as it was with previous verbatim disks I have gotten (but is still far better than the previous MII spindle I had, I'm not getting read errors from the burning drive anymore.)

Hope that helps some, though it's still going to have to come down to you trying them on your burner to see what kind of results you get.
