Wxripper Error: Wrong Diskette
« on: March 20, 2008, 09:05:00 PM »

I am using an old lite-on DVD-ROM drive to backup my own discs. I've tried plenty of large DVDs and a few different original games to backup but I always get Error @ 0 : The wrong diskette is in the drive. I usually recieve a CRC error @ 89088, so I dummied that line. WxRipper copies the first 5 lines fine, but at line 6 (copy), the disc stops spinning and I recieve this message:

Error @ 0 : The wrong diskette is in the drive.
Insert %2 (Volume Serial Number: %3) into drive %1.

I get an .iso of 3.46gb everytime, no matter what the game is. This error occurs only after about 8 minutes. Any ideas?

So do you save the Layout file once you get the magic number? And do you edit the layout file that you saved?

This mihgt be a few years too late but i had the same problem as you and it frustrated the crap out of me. I was using the emergency eject method(even though its bad for your dvd drive) and everytime it went to read the second layer it would give me a volume error and told you to reinsert the original dvd(TOC).  I ended up using another DVD tray (Memorex DL burner) but this time round i actually opened the top and hotswapped that way. It worked that way and i can speculate and give some pretty good reasons as to why but it doesn't matter.  Just becareful opening your DVD tray as to not damage it but it was the only way that worked for me. Everything else stays the same in regards to the tutorials out there and my layout was
C
D
D
C
J
C
J
*the third line from C-->D like stated in tutorials.  Hope this helps those who havent moved on to online downloading or dont want to invest in a kreon drive.
