Unplayable Disc Errors With Good Media
« on: March 13, 2008, 04:31:00 PM »

I've been having a big problem with making backups, I've looked around the forums and have yet to find a solution..

Im using Verbatim DVD+R DL and have tried clonecd, xbox backup creator and Imgburn and have made a total of 5 toasters this afternoon

My xbox 360 is flashed with ixtreme 1.4 and i have a Hitachi 047 drive... My burner is a Lite-On LH-18A1P and from all the research I've been able to do there really is no reason for these burns not to work

Everything checks out in DVDmulleter as well

I know lots of people post with the same compliant but usually they are using cheap media or the wrong program so Im a little stumped... Any ideas for things I could try?

What speed are you writing the discs at?  Maybe the lite-on isn't a great DVD burner?

Pick up a Pioneer and you'll be good to go.  The current latest is the 115/215, but they have announced the 116/216 for a June release.

It could be your dvd-drive the lasers are usually not calibrated properly...
Search for the pot-calibrating tutorial this will most likely make your drive read your backups...

i also have the same problem. i have a hitachi 47dh  with xtreme 1.4 and it seems to be very picky in the type of media that it will accept and read on the xbox(unreadable disk error). MIS 8x seems to give me better reads whereas MII will never read. i have a pioneer 112d with latest firmware and burn verbatim MIS media at 4x(2x even). the last batch of of MIS that i got did not go so well in terms of being able to read the disk. i already have 2 batches of MII that i brought when i first flashed my drive and i don't want to waste them so i decided to purchase a MS25 drive. i am going to try a samsung MS25 drive since i heard they are better at reading disks compare to the hitachi.

Hitachi and Samsung drives both use the same lasers...
If you buy one you should go for a benq it is quiet and reads the stuff better..
However you could also just tweak your hitachis pot and you will never have to worry about the problem again...
