My Samsung Sh-d162c Decided To Change Its Identity
« on: February 17, 2008, 08:32:00 AM »

I've had this drive for about a year now.  Worked great with KreonV081.  Made many backups perfectly.  It has been quite a while since I have needed to make a backup.  I recently noticed that KreonV100 is out so I downloaded and attempted to install.

I didn't get very far with it.  My computer is recognizing the drive, but reporting it as something completely different in the Device Manager - "JX0068V QIA030Q SCSI CdRom Device".  I haven't even touched this drive in a very long time, probably 6 months.

Now, there is something different about my setup from most people.  Ever since I got the drive it has been setup this way:  I have only a laptop, so the drive is in an external USB enclosure.  I don't think that would affect anything, since it worked great for about half a year.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get this thing reading correctly again?
