Now That Verbatims Are Made In India, Which Brand Should I Get?
« on: February 02, 2020, 10:57:00 PM »

The india discs are crap, I had 5 duds out of 20.  Memorex spindles in the red spindles, the old 2x4 works great, but I got a new spindle of memorexes in the blue/purple spindle, the faster ones, my lite on dvd burner wouldnt even read them.    Are there any other good brands that work good with 360??? how about Sony or TDK??

Some report success using phillips media.  The Samsung drives will read just about anything, other drives not so much.  It's hard to match verbatim quality, and I don't know if taiyo youden is making dl disks yet.

Yeah I have been hearing bad things about the verbs lately too and it's making me rather gunshy... I have found some Memorex 2.4x for fairly good price around me... anyone got experience with how those work out on BenQ?

How do you know if the verbatims are made in Singapore? Is there any way to know just by looking at the disc?

Thats not true, I bought Vertbatim 8x dual layers off newegg, they were made in India, and about %30 were coasters.  Iv'e used a ton of singpore 2.4 verbatims, not one coaster.

No that is true, you seem to have a stick up your @ss because he has like 4k posts and is completely correct. the 8x ones are only made in SINGAPORE, you bought 2.4x verbs which are now made in india from newegg. 2.4x singapores dont exist anymore, just get 8x singapores that are orange and branded at 8x, not 2.4x.

Yeah, the whole confusion comes in because the 2.4x will overspeed to 6x or 8x on most burners with no complications and so a bunch of stores and websites started advertising them as either 6x or 8x media.  So people started trying to refer to them as 8x media.  The 8x official stuff says 8x but will overspeed to 10x on some burners without any problems.  The orange label used to be an easy identifier but unfortunately the newer ones released by Verbatim are all being listed with a standardized purple label.  The good news is that the 2.4x MII ones all say 2.4x-6x now and the 8x ones are simply listed as 8x.  You might still have some old stock of 8x official media that carries the orange label though.

I bought the 20 pack of 2.4x ones and it says Made in India.  I burned them with Imgburn at 2.4x for each dvd dl disk for each game and have not had one coaster.  There has been 19 successes and then one I believe I crapped up the image and it said cannot play please put in xbox 360 console.  The discs have been good to me.

They do take 40 minutes to burn at 2.4x but its worked every time so Im not gonna try and speed up something that has worked 100% of the time.  Ive had nothing but working burns from the 2.4x ones at 2.4x and think I will be buying another spindle again now from newegg since they are on sale.
