Hi,
pretty much a newbie here....having never ripped my own backup before.
I have a question, to which I have been unable to find a definitive answer after hours of trawling through the forum.
I have a Hitachi drive 0047 in my Xbox 360.
I flashed the firmware as a complete noob in Dec 2006, with Extreme firmware, think it was Maximus-Garyopa Hitachi-LG Xtreme FW v2.3, but can't be 100% sure.
The filename In my original flash folder is X23S-1360.
I have never backed up my own game disc, having used only copies I originally bought from others, or more recently (last 5 months) burning downloaded backups from newsgroups.
The problem I have is that of the downloaded backups, I have a success rate of around 80%.
Most of the backups work, but a handful come up with unplayable disc errors (they are all PAL - and I am in the UK).
I have tested the backups on a friend samsung drive x360 and around half of the the failed backups work on his machine, but not all?
My question is - Do I need to update my firmware to allow improved backup compatibility. Is it a problem with my firmware being unable to detect additional data on the discs, as they work on a friends newer console.
I am using DL Ritek D01 discs, on a Pioneer 111D @ 2.4x, with both DVD Decryptor and CloneCD.
The problem is the same using Verbatim discs....
I don't play the 360 online, for fear of MS killing the machine - and jhave never tried it online.
Hence I don't know if the IExtreme firmwares will benefit me, as I don't want to have to rip & patch my current working disc collection, creating more work and cost.
Any help / advice appreciated.
Thanks
Jav
