Anyway To Flash Sh-d163b With Via Vt8237a?
« on: December 14, 2007, 12:18:00 PM »

Hi,

I recently bought a SH-D163B.
I got the latest firmware from xbins with sfdnwin.exe.

It says the firmware is not compatible with the current drive. Please contact bla bla bla...

I have done some research and apparently there is a known issue between the motherboard and drive which prevents flashing (every VIA motherboard i have ever had has had some stupid problem, ggrrrr).

Is there anyway around this without spending money?

Are these my only options?
A ) Flash at friends house
B ) buy pci sata card

Advice
Thank You.

So what are you using? Kreon alternative firmware for the Samsung SH-D162D and SH-D163B v1.00?
I'm not sure what your trying to do here but you just have the SH-D163B hooked up as normal and you can flash it from there it has nothing to do with your VIA 8237 chipset

You should have no troubles flashing the benq with VIA 8237 chipset

Do you know if the current (official) firmware on the drive is up to date? I think it's currently at revision SB01. If your drive still has revision SB00, upgrade to SB01 first then try to flash the Kreon firmware again.

Hope that helps.
