Difference Between The "kreon" Drives And Pioneer Drives
« on: December 06, 2007, 07:46:00 AM »

What up guys? I am looking for a little clarification because I am confused as all hell. With all the information out there you can really only look for the consistent (shows up everywhere) information to really be true. I see all this stuff about the "kreon" drives and pioneer drives and I am not sure which is which. I was hoping you guys at the scene could tell me what the model numbers of the Kreon drives are and what they are used for and the model numbers of the pioneer drives and what they are used for. To my understanding, which is probably wrong, the kreon drive is just a dvd-rom that lets you "one-click" a backup through xbc and the pioneer drives are dl burners that autobitset, in which you would still need a kreon drive to read the game. Correct me if I am wrong guys and i really appreciate it.

backup faq.

pioneer is a burner, kreon drives are drives with modified FW to rip 360 games.

let me rephrase the question more specifically; with a flashed drive to the "kreon" v1 fw and using xbcr, would i still have to do the ss and bin files, or is that literally a straight backup and burn?

you should really read this - your questions will be answered in great detail.  A drive with Kreon firmware will allow you to do a "straight backup". Burn with a good DVD+RW DL drive... Not a true 1:1 copy but about as close as we're likely to get.

perfect.....there we go. a drive with the v1 kreon firmware is just copy and burn; or at least as close as we can get to a copy burn setup anyways. so its definitely, in that case, worth buying a kreon drive then. Now the pioneer according to the faq, has the best probability of not messing up when you burn the games from any source. so this combo, a kreon drive and the pioneer you really cant lose. excellent, exactly what i wanted to know. thank you greatly.
