Backingup 360 Games?
« on: November 18, 2007, 10:16:00 AM »

Iv been trying to find out how to backup games for a while now and cant seem to figure it out.
Iv tried using the hotswap method using wxRipper, but i always get errors and getting my dvd drives top off is a pain...
Are there any easier methods to getting my game ISO's?
If so, could i be directed to a tut please.
 Thanks,

wxripper makes no sense anymore because you need a SS.bin extracted by a Kreon or samsung drive. When you have that you would make a complete backup anyway with XBC or schtrom.

the ss is the key component needed after the game.iso.

only way to extract a valid ss is with Kreon/samsung, and then you can do a complete backup

no ss is needed (pfi, dmi, video are not), that said it is a risky business even if you are not connecting to live. Much easier to detect and no one knows what could be the impact eventually of not being able to connect to live at all.

But SS is definitely needed on iXtreme or plain xtreme backup

OK, well, thanks for clearing that up. I was unaware of SS being needed even for xtreme fw.  One last/final question on this matter, something that I have been curious about, but never really found solid info on, then this thread can be locked/buried.....

What is ss.bin (does it stand for security sectors?)? what info does it really contain (if known)?  sorry, guess that is two questions........  rolleyes.gif
