Cant Make Heads Or Tails Out Of It!
« on: November 12, 2007, 03:51:00 PM »

Hi,

First of all i have an ms-28 xbox (whit still the genuine ms-28 drive).   Ive done almost everything i coud think off to get rid of skippy/jumpy ingame movie sequences and such!!!

1. first using Quality media (verbatim)
2. different burner used: pio 112d, Liteon 20a1p, Lite 20A1S
3. different write speeds 2,4 - 4x not more...
4. finaly pot tweaks
5. different lenses = 67 and 63 aswell
6. Replacing New lens ribbons, Sata and PSU cables aswell......

The weird thing is sometimes it plays movies and such FLAWLESS whit NOT 1 single SKIP / STUTTER.  AND NEXT it JUMPS AND SKIPS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE MOVIE SEQUENCE READING FROM THE SAME BACKUP!!!

ill post an quality scan wich is very impressive compared to wot ive seen onsite cdfreaks..

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/huh.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) WTH is wrong whit that piece of utter crap!!!

Baltazor,

I noticed in several topics u always ask that... But i dont see the importancy of how i made it since they boot just fine no dde's or other issues..  Its just that i have annoying skippy movies at times (not always).

But ill summarize some info none theless:

1. XBC 2.6 = ripp
2. Tried imgburn, decrypter, xbc, and clonecd for burning all give me the same results except for clonecd and patcoufin driver i once tried.  Using clonced and that coufin driver resulted in an coaster halfway the burn gave me write erros on verbatims, media wich never failed before.
3. Verbatim mkm001 mainly 2,4x
4. ms-28 Ix1.2c = FAST

I like to state that i always have had that problem from day 1 when i got my xbox whit firmware 4.1a back then.

Back then i used my old nec-3500a wich is one of the best writers in the old days.
I thought why not buying an pioneer drive for this purpose, since everyboddy is so full of it.  Well, its just the same scenario...   One time that specific movie stutters/freezes and sometimes it plays all the way throug whitout 1 hickup!!  And i MEAN CGI movies especialy not ingame graphics scenes!!

Edit 1:  I almost forget, i watch allot of movies i backed up on Verbatim +r mcc004 and Tayo Yuden 03 aswell they all play just fine whitout any issues.  Why is it i can watch movies from dvd+R JUST FINE regardless of wot lens i use or pot setting.  ill backup an an full dual layer movie to see if the problem is related to DL +r backups or not!!

Also, i just tried to boot a game burned on an ritek on an pot tweaked lens of 2.85 OHm (the maximum u can tweak before u burn out the lens inst it)  And u know wot it doesnt accept the game. That very same lens accept other games just fine.

NOw, i then installed yet another Lens i had lying arround.  The lens wos tweaked at 3.20 Ohm and amazingly it booted that ritek game just fine whitout any problems!!!!????  so WOT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE!???

As moderators, we have to weed out the pirates. also, certain methods produce certain results and it helps us narrow down the possible solutions.

you are underestimating peoples stupidity. when someone does admit it (and they often do) their posts are removed and you never see them, and usually never see that member again.

as i mentioned, thats not the only reason. knowing every step a person takes greatly helps the problem solving effort. when someone posts a problem without us knowing what they did, how can we begin to address the issue?

edit: as an example of people admittedly breaking the rules, in your warn log is a link to a thread where you admit backing up backups, which is a direct violation of XS rules.

Yes, check the country of origin on your MKM001 Verbatims.  They have recently started outsourcing to Moser Baer in India and although they contain the same code, their quality control is worlds apart.  That could easily be the problem if that is the case.

Hi jesterrace777,

Iam afraid i cant tell u the country of origin anymore, as i have throw away the package labels u know from that spindel.  I once have checked that, and usually they are from singapore !!  That said, still the quality differs from batch to batch even though they are all from singapore judging the quality scans ive made through cd speed!!  I noticed slightly more (in terms of total amount) PIE errors but still whitin acceptable range as u probebly can see from my picture i attached/linked in my first post!

Does it help u if i gave u the results of DVD identifier ?

here is the info:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD+R-DL:MKM-001-000]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc & Book Type :       [DVD+R DL] - [DVD-ROM]
Manufacturer Name :      [Mitsubishi Kagaku Media]
Manufacturer ID :        [MKM]
Media Type ID :          [001]
Product Revision :       [Not Specified]
Blank Disc Capacity :    [4,173,824 Sectors = 8.55 GB (7.96 GiB)]
Recording Speeds :       [2.4x]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
[ DVD Identifier V5.0.1 - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com ]
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

All dvd+r DL verbatims seems to be from the same manufacture as far i can tell from wot identifier tells me!

It might be an backup issue, but today i got my friend on a vissit whit his xbox360 whit same sammy ms-28 drive.  And ill play some discs on his to see if those skippy playback ocurs on his machine aswell.

regards,

baltazor,
