Help Me! Ive Tried Everything!
« on: November 09, 2007, 09:43:00 PM »

HI ALL!

i have a very big problem that i cannot seem to fix, and i think ive tried everything, i also did a search on these forums and didnt come up with ne thing like what was happening to me, so im sorry if this has been covered or if this is in the wrong section... im a noob here (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

I have got the samsung D162C flashed with kreon .82, pioneer 112 dvd burner, Schtrom V3.3 and XBC.

i am trying to backup all myxbox games... so far only DOA4, Juiced 2, Forza 2 and Viva pinata (it came in a bundle (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif))

i open Schtrom and i click extract, and no matter WHICH game i try to extract for backup, it will ALWAYS says:

"no valid xbox disk in drive"

I updated my chipset driver, as i read sumwhere this may have an impact on the ability to extract stuff.

and since then i got a couple "no valid xbox disk in drive" errors, but now i get on the same originals mentioned above:

"MyGetAltPhysicalFormatInformation failed"

A few of my mates have all backed up their copies of DOA4 and Juiced 2 etc, sucessfully and never get the errors im getting.

this is making me sad.. lol

please help me sumone... Specs are as follows

MB - Asus M2N32 - SLI DELUXE (wifi)
CPU - X2 Athlon 64 4400+
Ram - 2GB DDR2 800 Corsair
OS - Vista Ultimate 32 bit
GFX - Gigabyte 7600gt

With abovementioned software and firmware on relevent drives...

PLEASE HELP!

if it is vista 64 bit, not sure about how good it will work.

I know some have kept a XP partition on their disc???

Sorry I do not have vista 64 bits to test, but know some people had issue

have you tried your kreon drive in a friends pc to see if the drive is ok (or it may need to be reflashed)?

if the drive ends up ok, you could try installing a clean  xp partition on your pc  (i know it is a pain, just suggesting because it is not obvious  sad.gif )

ok checked the drive using 80 conductor cable (much thinner wire IDE cable) = same error

"no valid xbox disk, blah blah"

so to summarise...

*****
Not Kreon/drive problem - as it works fine on friends pc

Not Daemon/emu software problem - friend had to disable his for it to work

Not IDE Conductor Cable problem - tried 40 and 80 conductor, still nothing

Not Master/Slave problem - (tried all options)

Not Vista problem - i have 32bit Vista Ultimate (64bit is usualy the one that plays up lol)
*****

so far thats all ive got...

i realy want to resolve this...  thank you for all your time....

keep the brainstorm happening plz... ill try do sum more research...

thx

Not Daemon/emu software problem - friend had to disable his for it to work

some versions of emulation actually change the way connections are managed regardless of whether they are disabled or not, sometimes even when they are uninstalled!

I had a similar problem with daemon causing my pioneer 111d skipping whilst burning and buffer under runs ( a friend same set up worked fine). I resolved the problem.........................

Dont assume that because your friend did this that it is not the problem on your machine, I would COMPLETELEY uninstall any emulation software.

Then uninstall IDE/SCSI drivers and reinstall them from MOBO support website (do not let windows install generic ones).

Then try again and post back.

I had the same problem with the greyed out start button in xbox backup creator, and I had to google for the file "mscomctl.ocx", download it, and save it in my Windows\System32 folder.  Once I did that the start button was clickable, and XBC worked like a charm.  Even after installing the .NET framework I still needed to do this.  If you have XP give it a shot.

^^ nah, xbc dont work.. the start button is greyed out... like it cant read the disk fullstop, even though the kreon drive rips fine when i take it sumwhere else...

^also i have vista, not xp, so that file as far as i know wont make a dif...

thank you both very much for your suggestions though... i appreciate it...

keep them coming...

****
EDIT: i discovered Vista also uses mscomctl.ocx in certain circumstances, so i downloaded it and applied it by typing "regsvr32.exe mscomctl.ocx" in "RUN" - all succeeded.

but still no avail when it comes to ripping with shtrom or ungreying the button in XBC.
****

thx
