Hp 1040 Burner Questions.
« on: October 24, 2007, 05:07:00 AM »

Hey all.  My first post...

Anywho, I just got an HP 1040D burner and I'm wondering if this thing will work with 360 backups.  I've tried to burn an image a few times with no success (both ImgBrn and Clone CD).  I even tried burning a movie on it and the Xbox wouldn't read it either...  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Or just tell me to return the burner?  :)  Thanks!

what did you use to make the backup? is it properly patched? what firmware on 360? etc.

"I burned it and it doesn't work" gives us ZERO real info.

HP dvd1040 Super Multi DVD Writer is the same as Lite-On DVDRW LH-20A1H.  I've burnt many successful games with this drive.  Unfortunately, most of my games get the Disc Unreadable error once in a while.  I have recently flashed the DVD drive to the Lite-On DVDRW LH-20A1H Firmware.  HP has no available firmware updates and I do not think they will soon and that is why I flashed it.  So far ALL my backups I've burnt with the new firmware have had no problems what so ever.  Plus with the new firmware you can change the little details on how it burns with the available options with ImgBurn.  Hope this helps.  Media you are using is an issue as well.  For all my 360 backups I use Verbatim.  I am thinking of trying out Memorex.  Verbatim is burning a hole in my wallet.  I bought Nexxtech DVD DL pack and every single disc is a coaster so far.  For all my movies I used a store generic such as Office Depot brand which works perfectly.

Hello!

sorry, i know its a few months old but changing this drive to what it should be is a life saver, so here goes

What you need: Flash Utility , EEPROM Utility and unscrambled LH-20A1H Firmware

step 1: back up your current firmware with Flash utility
step 2: back up your EEPROM with EEPROM
step 3: use flash utility to write the LH-20A1H firmware to your drive
step 4: smile and open a beer your done!
