Imgburn Hang Problem - Any Ideas?
« on: October 08, 2007, 01:15:00 AM »

so im running windows xp pro and i have my pioneer 112d plugged into my sata card (via 6421). the reason i have that is because the jmicron chipset forces the burner into pio mode wen i have it plugged in to my ide port on my motherboard.

here's the issue: wen i start a burn it works out fine at 2.4x for a little while. but then randomly in the middle of burns, the burn process freezes, my burn speed drops to 0.0x, and it doesnt move. after a while it starts to work again, but im getting a few expensive coasters.

anyone have any ideas how i can fix this? thanks in advance.

What type of media are you using?  Do you have the latest drivers for the via 6421 sata card?  Also update your motherboard drivers.

I was getting hang ups and coasters with a spindle of Memorex DL.  At first I thought it was the burner so I bought two new ones and the issue wasnt resolved.  Changed media and all was well.  Needless to say Verbatim > * > Memorex

Thats the burning program changing layers on the disk , does it on any disk you get....it should only take about half a  minute for it to get back to full speed
