Then I had my mate make a backup ISO of my original The Darkness and I burnt it onto a HP DL DVD+ @ 2.4x

All DVD drives are different regarding which media they will read.

I'd say using a Verbatim blank could solve your problem. you should be using good media anyways.

Yup, I agree that your first problem is that you are trying to use Taiwanese made junk for your media.  You can't just use any old media for DL burning.

Wow i bought some Memorex DVD's on the weekend and wrote 2 games. After about 30 mins for game 1 I got dirty disc. Game 2 gave dirty disc on initial loading of intro screen.

I tried verbatims and I played for 4 hours without a problem. I guess my Samsung MS28 drive is very sensitive or verbatims are miles ahead of most others with regard to quality smile.gif

Verbatim are the only people that make quality DL media.  The error scans on most other media is horrendous.  It doesn't really affect PC use that much.. but reading at a high speed from a cheap dvd-rom drive (xbox) you really need good media.

Yup, thus far Verbatim (produced by Mitsubishi Kagaku Media in Singapore) is the only manufacturer that has been able to maintain a reasonable quality standard with DL media.  There are just so many other variables with the other media that no one can truly predict what kind of results to expect.  Among the variables are the burner/firmware revision, the 360 DVD-ROM drive/firmware revision.  Hence the reason why you see so many of us recommending Verbatim (or at least MKM produced discs) as they are really the only ones that are compatible with such a wide variety of applications.
