Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone could offer me some help.  I've done rips before, and never had any problems that I didn't figure out quite quickly, but this one has got me stumped and I can't find anyone else with the same problem.  Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.

As I said, I've done backups before, but I haven't for a while, and at the moment, when I try doing the 0800 enable disc and start up, the disc shows up in "my computer" but neither schtrom nor xbox backup creator (thats the one i usually use, i just tried schtrom to try to solve this problem) will find it.  Xbox Backup Creator starts up, and actually says that it has found the drive, but then it gives the error:

Action: ReadAddress() at 0x910037F0 (OPA/MAX Tag)
Sense Error: 5 / 81 / 00
UNKNOWN ERROR
CDB: Undefined
0xE7 48 49 54 01 00 91  00 37 F0 00 20

So it is finding the drive, but then it gets to some error, and it doesn't show up in the drop down or anything.  If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.  Thanks.

correct me if im wrong but isn't the 0800 enable disc for unlocking fw 4+ for sammy drives to read/write to them and has nothing to do with creating backups. Maybe you should just buy a sammy sdh162c and flash it with kreon 8.1 to do full stealth backups of your orig games with schtrom 3.2.

sorry m8 but im at a loss, if your in the uk dabs.com sell the sdh162c for £17 all in delivered to your door, get one and flash with kreon 8.1 and away you go, so much more easier than taking your 360 apart when you wanna backup a new orig game.

Update: Okay... disabling FW Branding allows me to see the drive under Xbox Backup Creator, but I tried another disc, they both show up as being exactly 4 gigs, and the button that you click to read the image and select a directory, it stays grayed out, so I can't click it.

Any ideas for that?

Edit: I've decided I am getting a 162c drive, for ease of use in the future, but I still want to try to figure this out.  Also, does anyone have any suggestions on why I would want to re-flash into this i-something 1.2?  I haven't done any research on any of this stuff in a while.

6421 card are sometime difficult to use for extraction, if you have sata on your MB it ususally works better (does not have to be via for backup).
also try different drivers (5.2 is the one that works best for me even if relatively old)
