QUOTE(XLNC @ Jun 13 2007, 01:57 PM) View Post

Has anybody tried out this brand of DVDs, they're specifically made to work on the 360 but do they actually work as well or better than verbatim's?

Infiniti 360

I bought some of these from ebay and only managed to get 2 backups out of 10 working they all burned fine but 8 of them come up with dirty disk error opon playing.  On later investigation I found that if I left the disks unprinted than they worked better as soon as I printed on them using my canon ip4300 they refusede to play.

BUt this is only my view others might have had better experiance with them.

Whats the media code manufacturer...?? I am positive they are cheap discs...its just someone trying to capitalize on the hype.

Verbatim are really the only people who know how to make quality DL DVD's...

they are coded as ricoh, but that is the most faked code!!
even if they are not faked ricoh, still not a good product IMHO.

The easiest way to tell is to find out what country they are made in.  All authentic Ricoh is made in Taiwan.  If it comes from anywhere else then it is definitely faked.  Either way, as soso mentioned it is NOT the best media to be using.

you cant compare memorex (they are mostly ritek   anyway, not ricoh and have a lot less fake)

as for being as good, feel too many people in  community like cdfreaks and here came to the conclusion that verbatim were providing a better chance of success/ long term viability.

Not saying memorex do not work, but you increase your chances of problem. It may work for you, nice,  but as a whole verbatim have a shown better chances of success and less chances to deteriorate with time. In the case of DL, the difference in quality between the verbatim and others is much higher than in SL.
again, happy to see they work for you.

Its also a problem solving thing... if people are having problems and they say they are using Verbatim discs it eliminates media as a problem.

If they say they are using Memorex... it may work great for one person and not work at all for someone else depending on the DVD burner and the reading capabilities of the Xbox 360 drive.  They report an "open tray" error.. how do we help them?

Using the best media just makes things more consistant and they aren't THAT much more expensive..

They do also last longer... wheras Memorex may work fine for a year and then become unreadable..

Cheap media mostly has problems on the second layer... so you may not know you have a problem until you play through a game as well.
