Problem With Ixtreme 1.2 On Ms25
« on: June 10, 2007, 10:43:00 AM »

I've had some issues with the new Ixtreme 1.2 today.

I flashed an MS25 (in a new unmodified xbox) with Iprep and 1.2 ,
i spoofed the firmware as MS25 (as this was the original drive version)

then flashed it without any problems, all as usual.

i ran the xbox, booted up some backups like forza and call of juarez

they booted just fine but froze a couple of seconds or minutes after starting.

just random freezes,

without panicking, i went back to flashing and used the old Ixtreme 1.00 to hack the orig.bin i dumped from the drive.
(wasn't spoofed as i did it with the ixtreme hackfirmware process)

flashed it again, now everything is just perfect . all the same discs run flawlessly

did anyone encounter anything like that?

are there some new bugs on the Ixtreme 1.2  ?

yeah I've got an ms28 flashed to xtreme 1.2, but I'm going back to 1.0 now...it freezes all the time on 1.2. I'm not sure why though...I think going back to 1.0 will help, I'll let you know. Hopefully this'll be fixed in the new version (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

why don't you try to flash your drive the old manual way. I used mtk flash the old way and no problems with any freezing what so ever.

I started to play forza and ran into similar problems.  Not freezing though.  What would happen is I would be playing and the course would not be rendered or would show up black.  Its the only game I've played so far and I only seen this happening after going to 1.2.

I followed THIS Guide to extract and flash the bin.  But I used the command prompt thats included with the ixtreme 1.2 to create the 1.2 bin with my key.  It originally came with a MS28, but I swapped it out with a MS25 and used no spoofing

I had the same problem as yours where one of the track wouldn't rendered properly, just showed up black. I'm on ixtreme 1.0. After I run FM2 update, everything is fine now. So I think you better do the game update. ixtreme 1.2 is ok.

Have the same ???, plse state how these backups were made

Software?
drive?
FW?
media?

and have you verified the image against the file ripped with imgburn ( How to verify a burn )

I know one person that did his backup of forza and he says he has no prob at all with 1.2.
moved to backup for now

I am having the same problem, I've been flashing my 360 since it started so I know exactly how to do it. I just swapped my console with a mates and ran iprep 1.01 to update my MS25 (it hadn't been touched before) to v1.2 and my backups of shadowrun just freeze when it starts the round, and the new silver surfer game freezes on the first loading menu, I'm using the Samsung Kroen method with Xbox Backup Creator 2.5 and I've been doing it since the release of Gears of War, yet that game still works perfectly!

upgraded from 3.3 to iX 1.2, once i had the 0800 disc in, flawless. half my old backups are toast racks & $3 coasters now, but i'll get over it.

my theory is the slow loading speed in the xtreme 4/5 series helped out on game content loading from backup media. especially memorable on games like dead rising, which sometimes flubs entire textures so you see odd things like clipped hands wandering towards you.

is it likely to be that fast/slow aspect which is detectable, or is this a general safety measure in the iXtreme "playing it safe" series

Meh, I've been using the same disks and burner for the past year so it's got nothing to do with that, I think its possibly down to the drive, it was one of the launch xbox's and is probably buggered, as I've even tried putting xtreme 5.3a on it and it made no difference.

Though it was an untouched drive, I used iprep to with ixtreme 1.2 to update it using iDump, it created a HACKED.BIN and ORIG.BIN in the backups folder. ORIG.BIN is reported as being MS25 which is correct and gives a valid key, is there a possiblity that idump has had a problem when reading the firmware? Is there anything else that it needs from the firmware (that could have possibly got corrupt) or is it just the key it needs?

If all else fails, I could just swap it again with another mates, as they have no problem doing so, and I'll test it. Though I think next time I'll just use good old manual MTKFLASH.
