Shadowrun Won't Backup Correctly
« on: June 02, 2007, 01:00:00 AM »

Has anyone tried backing up Shadowrun yet?  I've made a ton of backups using the same method and discs as I tried with Shadowrun, and it didn't work.  It would boot the beginning sequence, but would give a disc read error before the start screen.  The original gets to the start screen, so that isn't the problem.  I backed it up 2 separate times, burned it 4 times on 2 different Pioneer DVR-111D drives, and all of them had the same error.

Ripped with:

XBC 2.5
Samsung SH-D162C with kreon .81

Burned with:

2 different Pioneer DVR-111D with 1.29 firmware on Verbatim DVD+R DL discs at 2.4x speed using CloneCD

Attempted to play on:

Samsung ms28 with Xtreme 5.3
Samsung ms28 with iXtreme firmware 1.0
Hitachi 46 with C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth

Ripped Forza 2 today, Pirates of the Caribbean the other day with no problems.  Something is different on Shadowrun.

Update:

Tried Schtrom 3.2, same results.  I'm going to try and buff out the original disc and see what happens.

Lots of views, but only 1 reply (besides mine).  Has anyone out there personally backed up this game?

Thanks, now can you please share what software, reader, burner combo you used?  If you made an Xtreme 3 backup, etc.?  Thanks!

I also have same problem. I use xbc to create succsuful image, useing sh-d162c firmware. When I go to burn the game with pioneer 111d and at 76% of burn it freezes the unable to b urn error  message appears.  Game is brand new no scratches, tired several times with xbc and it always says created succsessfully with stealh check passed. first game to have this problem with. I think I will  try the old swap movie way with ss merger and see if it works. Will let you know how that goes tommoro. Ps I tried vertabam and memorex dvd dl.both do same thing at 76%. some original are marginal (even if htey look good) check this post.

if you already tried different media which would have been the first to look at.
Have you tried doing a backup and burn of another game? or try to burn with another burner.

OK, I got it to work. for some reason, xbc 2.5 would copy the whole game, but when i did the stealth check it would say it passed but the video partition listed as questionable, I guess that is what was messed up, cause i did drive tools unlock drive, copy partition only, then ss, pfi, dmi seperatly, then used ssmerger 1.7b to add video sector and ss,dmi, pfi. It took 1.5hrs, but it finally worked, no problems or video skipping. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I made a backup on my Kreon 0.81 drive and Xbox Backup Creator. I then burned it with my Pioneer 112D and ImgBurn with Verbatim (of course) disks. I have had no issue with this game, it plays just fine.

Has anyone tried backing it up with the WXripper method?

ive tried doing it and it always *cycle redundancy check failure* on the 2nd layer *anyone whos used wxripper should know what i mean (the 2nd huge file area)

i re-testest with my burnout revenge game and it backed up perfectly...no problems..

just curious if anyone has done it that way *as i do not have the other means of drives to test with and all but Shadowrun burns /backups fine.

For wxripper save layout and then change begging letter of every line that starts with C and J to D. load the newsaved layout file and it should look like this
Dummy    0       19408
Dummy    19408     1072
dummy     20480      109344
dummy     129824     1783936
dummy     1913760    0
ignore the numbers just made them up.
make sure you use bigenough dvdmovie, I didn't get any errors doing it that way either.
