If something works one time and then not the next, even though you did exactly the same thing, then it could be one of several things. Generally speaking, it's almost never the hardware giving you the problem, although, there are times when all indications point to it. In my experience, it's usually best to make sure everything is updated. That is to say, firmwares, mobo drivers, maybe even the BIOS, but not usually. Once you have that checked and working, you have to find something else that could be faulty... like another program perhaps creating a conflict with the kreon drive or the xbox creator program itself.
I can remember a few times my GRAPHICS CARD wouldn't let my wired netgear PCI card to get online! There was an IRQ problem that took me a great deal of effort to locate, and the problem was in the design of the motherboard, which the company (MSI) discovered and resolved the issue in a BIOS update.
It might pay off to figure out IF there's another program causing the problem. Use Task Manager and get rid of processes that may be suspect(just don't get rid of the wrong ones hehe).
Also, it might help us out better if we had a bit more description of the specific problem. We know your system hanged and that your system wouldn't read some discs. What kind of configuration? Any cool programs you got on your system that use a bunch of resources?
Hope I gave some food for thought, cuz you might just figure it out on your own!

OK, i'm going back to my porn
hehe jk
