Cant Find Xbox Drive.
« on: March 04, 2007, 02:43:00 AM »

Ok, so i burnt the 0800.iso (that i got from 360mods) to a Double Layer Verbatim disk.
I plugged my xbox 360 ms25 drive into my Sata card (which shows up in Device Manager as VIA VT6421 RAID Controller)

So i follow the steps, put the 360 in 0800 mode (so i hope i do, depending on wether or not i got the correct 0800.iso from the right place), let it read for 20 sec, eject the dvd, boot up the computer and the Drive isnt showing up in My Computer...can anyone help?

Thanx.

You must have the latest 5.4 drivers for you via card, they cause a problem to see the drive in backup.
You need to revert to the via drivers 5.2 (on the site of Via)

Turn off the "FW Branding Check" on the options tab unless you need it (A hitachi branded as samsung or opposite). For those using a VIA6421 card, you should try using the version 5.2 of the Via drivers (here)

Try drivers 5.2 and remove fw branding check in options.

Not having SP2 installed could definitely be a problem.  Update with SP2 and then try again.

Installed it last night, kept trying using all the different methods still nothing. Its really getting frustrating now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

I have a huge feeling its related to the sata card. As yesterday, i plugged my sata card into another computer and tried connecting the xbox to that computer and same deal. Windows XP loading screen freezes, then continues a little later.

That is only after you are in XBCreator in the options menu. That would only help you after it is seen in windows.
If you have not done so yet, first try the 5.2 drivers (here).

Ok, well ill try again tonight when i get home from school. But, i changed the driver to 5.1.2600.520 (which i suppose is the 5.2 that you are talking about) and it didnt work again. Still freezes on Windows XP loading screen.

Im all out of ideas, i take it you guys are aswell?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

a few people had more chance with single layer DVD+R for the 0800, worth a try.
On the ideas, to be honest yes  sad.gif , I am about to propose my usual escape. It is a lot of trouble to open the x360 every time you do a backup, not tempted about a shd162c wink.gif .

You could also try to go back in firmware prior to firmguard, just to see if you drive is seen that way.

Also I am assuming here that, it is not seen at all, not just the letter not assigned to it. So in admin toot/computer mgmt/disk mgmt of windows it does not show.

is that the setup you used to first flash your drive??

Haha, well ive already spent over $130 on buying DVD Dual Layer Burner, Sata Card, DVD's etc, so the shd162c might not be an option (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)(IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Also, i live in Australia and ive looked around alot of places and cant seem to find them.

Nothing shows up in My Computer, relating too the new xbox dvd drive. It doesnt even show up on preboot.

I didnt flash my drive, i got someone to do it for me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
